I hate to be bored. I've been known to come up with some silly, interesting (some may even call them stupid) ways to pass the time when there seems to be nothing else to do. I would like to share some of my ideas and the ideas of others I have found or have been shared with me. Please email me or leave me a comment if you have a great idea or funny story you would like to share.

Idea #7: Sunglass Montage

Who doesn't like to act silly and take goofy pictures?

Just about any department store is fair game: Target, Walmart, Hot Topic, etc. It's most fun with a friend or two or ...6! Me and some friends found the sunglasses below to be quite amusing.

It's good for a laugh or two now and when you go back and look at the pictures later. What kind of crazy sunglasses can you find to try? Please post some of your adventures in eyewear retail.

Idea #6: Bad Fashion War

Start a "Bad Fashion War." Rules are simple. While out shopping, find the tackiest, ugliest shirt, skirt, pants or other type of clothing. Put it on or have a friend put it on and take a picture. Send it to a friend (one who knows the game). She has until the end of the day to send something back to beat you.

If you get something back pretty quickly, and it's worse than yours you better find something new to send fast! We usually just play for silly bragging rights. It's fun for everyone!

Sometimes I will send it to a few people just to see what everyone comes back to me with. It can be pretty funny...one time I received a photo with a picture of an "ugly shirt." It just happened to be the same shirt a friend I was shopping with was wearing. It was too funny!

Here are some examples received or sent from past wars:

Idea #5: Note Your Thoughts

Write in a diary or journal. Jot down your dreams, wishes, fears, opinions, ideas...the page is yours.

I've never been very good at keeping one, but I'm totally loving this one I picked up at Barnes & Nobles the other day:

It was designed from a book by the same name. Click here  to check out a website dedicated to the pursuit of happiness.

It's a one sentence journal.  I like to think of the one thing that sticks out most about my day and sum it up in 1-3 sentences. It's simple and easy to use and it has room for up to 5 years of entries. Want one too? Click here. Happy documenting!

Idea #4: Worst in the Purse

A quick, fun game that can be played just about anywhere. My friends and I like to play while stuck in the car. Rules are simple: Everyone one pulls out the 3-4 most interesting things they can find digging around in their purse. I like to keep it random so no one has time to add things in advance. It's more fun to see the unintentional stuff.

I have won a few times for having such things as a finger trap, adult dice, glow-in-the-dark vampire teeth and a panini in my purse. It's especially fun for us mothers. You never know what your kids are throwing in there too!

Today, these are the 5 most interesting or unusual things I found in my purse:

(Disney Princess Chapstick, Littlest Pet Shop Cat, small bag of safety pins, a Slim Fast and a pink, plastic tooth-shaped tooth holder)

So, I now challenge anyone who comes across this blog to see if they can beat me...what's in your bag?

Idea #3: Table Art

Try using whatever you can find at your resturaunt table to make creative art while you wait for your meal.

What kind of art can you come up with? I'd love to see some pictures!

Idea #2: Random Conversation

Strike up a conversation with a random person. Some of my most interesting interactions are with people I meet while I'm out and about. In a mile long check out line at Walmart? Ask the lady in front of you, with the Dog Chow, what kind of dog she has. I once met a lady at the grocery store who was a couponing enthusiast eager to share her vast knowledge of savings. If only I'd had something to jot some of her advice down at the time, I might have saved a good $20 on my last food run...

This is me in Savannah after I attempted to start a conversation with this random bystander to see if I could pet his snake. (Lol. Yeah, I said it.) Anyway, his girlfriend (lady kind of seen behind me) didn't seem to like this so much and proceeded to argue with him. Note, I'm still trying to touch the banana boa. Lol.

Idea #1: Blogging...duh.

Create a new blog. :) I'm currently creating another page "Homestead Corner" that will highlight all the knowledge and fun we accumulate living on my parents' homestead. There is always something going on...
